Fun facts

The movie was inspired by a tall tale written by Saraina Whitney called ‘The Grand Race’
Joshua has been playing around with the idea of making this movie since early 2020. It would have been his second animated short film if he hadn’t lacked the technical know-how to create realistic humans, which led to the original short film being shelved after a full summer of work. On the bright side, it allowed him to develop the concept, which has now evolved into a much more ambitious project:)
Despite being a film about a girl who loves horses, the original draw of the story has always been the world in which Betty lives. The tall tale feels larger than life in a way only a kid could envision. We hope to work to encapsulate some of that in the film while simultaneously having an intriguing storyline that tackles the question – how far do you take your dreams?

Betty Fleetfoot is a 3D-animated coming-of-age family drama/adventure about a girl being torn by her long-buried dream of owning a horse and her family’s complicated history with the former horse racing legend Spud Dobber.

Fleetfoots have been racing horses for generations, but that all changed when tragedy struck.

After a terrible horse-related accident involving Spud Dobber, Henry Fleetfoot, Betty’s father vows never to touch a horse again. Now, many years later, Henry must decide whether or not he will let his past control his family’s future.
